7Compare is built to work without knowing who you are. This page describes exactly what is stored and where.
What stays in your browser
Your wishlist, your comparison set, your price alerts and your recently viewed products are stored in this browser's local storage. A price alert is also registered with our server under an anonymous device identifier (the product link, its title and your target price), so the price can be checked and you can be notified; nothing else on this list leaves the device.
Clearing your browser data removes all of it. There is no copy on our side to restore.
What we collect
No account is required to use any feature. We never ask for your phone number or address; your name and email are held only if you choose to sign in.
If you give an email address for a price alert or the newsletter, it is used to send that alert or that newsletter and nothing else. Every message carries an unsubscribe link.
Search by photo
If you search with a photo, your browser first shrinks it and removes its metadata (location, camera and time), and reads a barcode where it can. The photo is then sent to our server only to identify the product, processed in memory, and discarded — it is never saved or logged. We keep the result of the search (which product it matched) for a few minutes so a retry of the same photo is instant.
When a barcode isn't readable, the photo may be sent to an AI provider (Google Gemini or GitHub Models) solely to read the product's brand, model and printed text. We don't ask it for, or use it for, anything else. Your camera is opened only when you tap Take a photo, through your device's own camera screen.
Analytics
We measure aggregate usage — pages viewed, searches run, which comparisons are opened — to decide what to build next. This is counted in aggregate and is not tied to an identity.
Advertising
This website shows ads through Google AdSense (the Android app does not show ads). Google and its partners use cookies and device identifiers — including the advertising ID on a mobile device — to serve ads, to limit how often you see the same one, and to measure whether an ad worked.
Those identifiers are set and read by Google, not by us. We never send them your email address or anything else you have given us, and we do not combine them with your wishlist, alerts or account.
You can turn off personalised advertising at myadcenter.google.com, or block site data in your browser. Ads still appear; they are simply no longer tailored.
The 7Compare Android app
When you share a product to 7Compare from another app, paste a link, or search, that link or search text is sent to our server so we can identify the exact product and look up its prices. It is used for that comparison and to improve search, and it is not sold.
The app reads your clipboard only when you tap Paste, and only to take the product link you copied. Android shows its own notice when this happens.
If you set a price alert, the app keeps an anonymous device identifier so it can check your watched prices and notify you. It is not linked to your advertising ID.
The optional floating 7Compare button uses Android's "Display over other apps" permission only to draw that button. It cannot see or read other apps' screens, and the app does not use Accessibility or usage-access permissions to learn which app you are using.
Notifications are sent only for price alerts you set. The app shows no advertising.
The 7Compare browser extension
On a supported store's product page, the extension sends that page's address and the product name and price shown on it to our server, to look the product up at other stores. With Shopping Mode switched on, the address and link text of a product link you click on that store are sent the same way, for the same purpose. Nothing else on the page is read, and your browsing elsewhere is not seen.
Signing in
Signing in is optional. If you sign in with Google or email, your name and email address are held by our 7By account service so your account works across devices. You can ask for the account to be deleted from the account deletion page.
When you click through to a store
Following a link to a retailer hands you over to that retailer, whose own privacy policy then applies. Some links carry an affiliate tag so the store can attribute the visit. We do not pass any personal information to them.
Your rights
Write to contact@7by.in to ask what is held against an email address, or to have it deleted. We action deletions within 30 days.
